The Cleveland Hill School District is a small district located in the suburban community of the Town of Cheektowaga, a first ring suburb of Buffalo, New York. The western border of the district is the City of Buffalo. Nearly all the property in the district is residential with very little commercial and no industrial property.

The Cleveland Hill community is a small working/middle class neighborhood of single-family homes and apartments, with a handful of upscale properties. Most homes were built during the post-World War II building boom, to serve workers in Cheektowaga's growing industrial and research development industries. Many families have lived in the district for generations and their children are second, third and fourth generation Cleveland Hill district attendees. Centers in the community are the school, churches and the volunteer fire department, in addition to libraries and Cheektowaga Town Park.

Our students are racially and ethnically diverse: 40% are White, 33.5% are African-American, 6.4% are Hispanic, 11.5% are Asian, 7.8% are Multiracial, .6% are American Indian and .2% are Pacific Islander. A small minority of students are recent immigrants. This diverse population presents the district with a rich mix of students.

Cleveland Hill is a single campus district educating 1338 students with one elementary, one middle and one high school located on a 28-acre site in the center of the district.

Cleveland Hill is proud of our investment in technology. We have moved to a 1-to-1 initiative with respect to all students, UPK through twelve. This has enabled our students to get the most out of learning both in-person and at home.

Cleveland Hill Elementary School houses Universal Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade. The various academic programs and supports offer a highly engaging and responsive learning environment to meet the unique needs of all learners and prepare our students to be successful in a changing world. A multi-tiered system of support is utilized to equip our students with the tools necessary to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Cleveland Hill Elementary school is committed to creating a kind, safe, and nurturing school environment for all.

Cleveland Hill Middle School, grades six through eight, provides students with a nurturing small school environment, while providing diverse and individualized opportunities for both enrichment and academic support. Hands on, project-based learning opportunities are evident through cross curricular collaborations at each grade level. Students are assigned to a team of teachers who not only focus on the academic success of students, but also their social, emotional health and character development through a multi-tiered system of support.

At Cleveland Hill High School, academic, extracurricular and support programs focus on building student self-efficacy, which is the confidence and skills necessary to be successful in an ever-evolving world. They prepare students for post-secondary goals, with a wide selection of college credit bearing courses and work-readiness programs. Students can earn up to five units of Foreign Language where the final two units earn them college credit, or they can engage in a Career and Technical Education sequence, culminating in an internship with one of our local community partners. Knowing that this transformation does not happen all at once, they begin preparing their students for the expectations of high school with their Freshman Seminar program, where many of our students go on to be Freshman Mentors in their junior and senior year. They offer a wide array of extracurricular, athletic, and interscholastic clubs and competitions for students to participate in, placing a value on creating opportunities for our students to experience new endeavors and develop different skills outside of the academic setting. Cleveland Hill High School is a diverse community. A strong culture and sense of pride in their school make it a safe and inviting environment where all students can, “Soar Toward Success.”

The Pupil Personnel Department works diligently to meet the social/emotional needs of both the student body and their families. District psychologists, school counselors and social workers meet with parents and students alike, in the school setting, home setting and at the Cleveland Hill Family Resource Center.

Music and athletics have always been areas of high interest for students and the community. Instrumental music lessons begin for students in fourth grade, and there is a band and chorus from fourth to twelfth grade. Our student musicians have received a number of awards for performance and we offer a full complement of interscholastic athletics with some of the most competitive athletic programs in the state.

The Cleveland Hill School District is geographically small when compared to many of its neighbors in Erie County, and though their student enrollment is in the median range for the state, it is lower than most other districts in the county. While this presents some challenges, it also provides an outstanding opportunity to maximize on these characteristics, offering teachers and staff the opportunity to meet the needs of a diverse student body. The district is able to focus on the individual learner to support academic excellence and social responsibility in preparation for higher education or the world of work
